Baseball Game Preview: Center Roughriders vs. Jasper Bulldogs

Center hasn't had much luck against Jasper recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Center Roughriders will square off against the Jasper Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m.

Friday just wasn't the day for Center's offense. They came up short against Tatum on Friday, falling 8-0.

Meanwhile, Jasper won against East Chambers on Friday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. Jasper blew past Kountze 15-6. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Kyson Pantoja made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Pantoja was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Payton Brooks, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Reese Richardson also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

Jasper always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .657. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .522 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Jasper now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Center, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Center suffered a grim 12-2 defeat to Jasper when the teams last played back in April of 2022. Can Center avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
