Baseball Recap: Gretna Takes a Loss

Gretna extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping them down to 10-12. They fell 5-0 to the Gretna East Griffins. The Dragons were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Griffins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Gretna saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Layton Parrack, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

As for Gretna East, they pushed their record up to 14-8 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games.

On Gretna East's side, Chase Neneman tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched.

At the plate, Gretna East let Koby Modrell and Kasen Brown run wild. Modrell went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Brown went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensen Albers, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gretna will square off against rival Norris at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gretna East is set to face off against their familiar foe Lincoln Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
