Mesa and Skyline are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but likely not for long. The Jackrabbits will square off against the Coyotes at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. Skyline took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mesa, who comes in off a win.
Mesa came out on top against Dobson on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Jackrabbits blew past the Mustangs 14-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Jackrabbits.
Johnny Urquijo made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gerardo Sanchez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Mesa is undefeated when Sanchez posts three or more hits, but 4-14 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Osmar Hurtado Lora, who went 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Mesa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Skyline came up short against Red Mountain on Thursday and fell 7-4.
Skyline saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Claridge, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Mesa picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 7-14. As for Skyline, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
