Softball Game Preview: Shadyside Tigers vs. Ridgewood Generals

The Shadyside Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Ridgewood Generals at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ridgewood took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Shadyside, who comes in off a win.

Shadyside took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Hiland 14-3.

Ariana Saxton made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 15 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kamryn Parker, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Weatherson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Shadyside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Ridgewood was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of Newark Catholic. That's two games in a row now that the Generals have lost by just one run.

Ridgewood's loss dropped their record down to 12-9-1. As for Shadyside, they now have a winning record of 13-12.
