Softball Recap: Marion Victorious

Marion's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. Everything went their way against the Kingstree Blazers as the Marion Swamp Foxes made off with a 16-2 win. The Swamp Foxes haven't had any issues with the Blazers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Kynnedi Jenkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. Furthermore, she didn't allow a single hit, the first time she has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ayoni Malloy was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Three bases. while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Kristin Shaw was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-2.

Marion always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kingstree only posted an OBP of .286.

Marion's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3.

Coming up, Marion will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Mullins at 6:30 p.m. As for Kingstree, they will venture away from home to challenge Lake City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The game will give Lake City their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
