Basketball Game Preview: Westwood Panthers vs. Teague Lions

Westwood is 0-10 against Teague since December of 2020 but things could change on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Westwood Panthers face off against the Teague Lions at 6:15 p.m. Teague took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Westwood, who comes in off a win.

Westwood took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed last Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Groesbeck 42-40. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since December 15, 2023.

Meanwhile, Teague suffered their biggest defeat since December 5, 2024 on Tuesday. They were beaten by Fairfield 63-28. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 738th, while the Eagles are ranked 94th).

Westwood's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-13. As for Teague, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
