Baseball Recap: Badin Takes Down Butler in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Badin rose to the challenge on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Butler Aviators with a sharp 10-1 win. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 20 games by seven runs or more this season.

Caleb Driessen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Kade Bowling was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Cade Cummins was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Badin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Badin pushed their record up to 28-6 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Butler, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-3.

As of now, neither Badin nor the Aviators have any future games scheduled.
