Baseball Game Preview: New Bern Bears vs. South Central Falcons

New Bern hasn't had much luck against South Central recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to take on the Falcons at 6:30 p.m.

Last Tuesday, New Bern didn't have quite enough to beat J.H. Rose and fell 5-4.

Bunn typically has all the answers at home, but on Tuesday South Central proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Wildcats.

Christian Chance spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brody Brannan and Rahkeem Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Brannan went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Williams scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave Williams a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Aiden Parker, who scored two runs while going 2-for-5.

New Bern's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for South Central, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

New Bern was able to grind out a solid win over South Central in their previous matchup on Thursday, winning 9-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
