Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Jordynn Speckner and Skyla Wunder Lead Lingle-Fort Laramie to Victory

Lingle-Fort Laramie won the last time they faced Niobrara County and things went their way on Friday too. The Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers took down the Niobrara County Tigers 58-40. The Doggers pushed the score to 54-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Tigers cut but never quite recovered from.

Lingle-Fort Laramie was led to victory by Skyla Wunder and Jordynn Speckner. Wunder went 7 of 16 to rack up 20 points in addition to five boards and five steals, while Speckner posted 12 points along with six assists and four steals. Wunder has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 13 times she's played.

Lingle-Fort Laramie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 13 consecutive matchups.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Marleigh Smith, who earned 12 points and three steals. Those 12 points gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie ZumBrunnen, who scored 11 points.

Lingle-Fort Laramie's record now sits at 14-3. As for Niobrara County, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-5 record this season.

Lingle-Fort Laramie didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-34 victory against Crawford on the 8th. As for Niobrara County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 47-32 win against Moorcroft on the 8th.
