Basketball Recap: Burlington Takes Down Galena in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Burlington had no trouble coming through when it counted. They took their match on Thursday with ease, bagging a 47-16 win over the Galena Bulldogs. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

Burlington found their leader in sophomore Alexa Splechter, who posted 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Karlee Docman was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Burlington was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 13-2 when they've passed the ball that well.

The victory (which was Burlington's fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.4 points on average over those games. As for Galena, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Burlington didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 50-44 win against Caney Valley on the 4th. Galena does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
