Baseball Recap: Rancho Cucamonga Comes Up Short

Rancho Cucamonga had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 18-8 to make it four. They came up short against the Damien Spartans, falling 8-0. If the Cougars were looking for revenge after losing 1-0 to the Spartans when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rancho Cucamonga saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rowan Suchanek, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Damien, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-13. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Damien's side, not much got past Rudy O'Dell, who gave up just two hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Rancho Cucamonga off the board. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for O'Dell.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bobby Logue, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Michael Mansour, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.

While Rancho Cucamonga had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
