Baseball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. Danbury Panthers

Brazos is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Danbury is on a four-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will welcome the Panthers at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Brazos' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Hitchcock. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

The result came thanks to Carter Baros's shutout, as he gave up just five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Polasek, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Reese Cullen was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Brazos always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hitchcock only posted an OBP of .286.

Meanwhile, Danbury won against Deweyville on Tuesday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Panthers blew past the Pirates 16-6. Considering the Panthers have won ten contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Danbury has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Brazos, their win bumped their record up to 11-7.
