Softball Recap: Notre Dame Prep Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Notre Dame Prep won the last time they faced Powers Catholic and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Fighting Irish walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Chargers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Irish.

Brianna DeCaussin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Katherine Healy was a standout: she got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played. Emersyn Rix-Renne was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Notre Dame Prep's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-7. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Powers Catholic, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.

Notre Dame Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chargers: the pair will be back at it again later today.
