Soccer Game Preview: Surry County vs. Franklin

The Surry County Cougars will challenge the Franklin Broncos at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Surry County is coming into the contest fresh off a high-scoring shootout with Southampton that saw the pair combine for 15 shots on goal. The Cougars lost 5-0 to the Indians on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, Surry County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Southampton are ranked 18th).

Meanwhile, after soaring to seven goals the game before, Franklin was a bit more limited in their matchup on Monday. They came up short against Northampton, falling 11-0. The loss continues a trend for Franklin in their meetings with Northampton: they've now lost four in a row.

Franklin's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Surry County, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
