The Mt. Pleasant Tigers will challenge the Zion Christian Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Pleasant is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

While Mt. Pleasant's win against East Hickman County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Mt. Pleasant sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over East Hickman County on Thursday. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Jackson Lindsey and Sheldon Christy made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Lindsey struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Christy pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Lindsey scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Christy went a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was Christy's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Zion Christian Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Richland on Monday and fell 8-7.

Thatcher Looney made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

The victory got Mt. Pleasant back to even at 2-2. As for Zion Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mt. Pleasant has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Zion Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Mt. Pleasant couldn't quite finish off Zion Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 10-8. Can Mt. Pleasant avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
