Basketball Recap: Elmore County Triumphs

Elmore County hadn't done well against Chilton County recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Elmore County Panthers came out on top against the Chilton County Tigers by a score of 65-53. This was a revenge game for the Panthers: when they faced off against the Tigers last Tuesday, they had to take a 56-49 loss.

When it comes to explaining why Chilton County lost, don't look at Cayden Meank. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 11 en route to 18 points. The contest was Meank's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Smitherman, who posted 12 points.

Elmore County's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Chilton County, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elmore County will face off against Stanhope Elmore at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Stanhope Elmore knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Elmore County likes a good challenge. As for Chilton County, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Wetumpka at 7:00 p.m. Wetumpka will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Chilton County surely won't give up without a fight.
