Jason Franco was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Logan Jackson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Franco wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Yucaipa kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Redlands East Valley unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Riverside Prep.
Redlands East Valley also got a good showing from Joseph Prosper, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time Prosper hasn't allowed a single hit since back in February of 2024.
At the plate, Redlands East Valley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Towns, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Yucaipa's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games. As for Redlands East Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Redlands East Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Yucaipa hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. It's a different story for Redlands East Valley, though, as they've only averaged .203. Will they be able to contain Yucaipa's hitters?
Yucaipa couldn't quite get it done against Redlands East Valley in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 as they fell 12-9. Can Yucaipa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
