Softball Recap: North Thurston Has No Trouble Against Lakes

North Thurston made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lakes, but they still couldn't quite topple them. North Thurston was the clear victor by a 19-3 margin over Lakes on Tuesday. This was payback for the Rams, who suffered a 16-4 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Paige Guyer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 12 Ks. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (two).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Isabella Haagen, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Sara Halterman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances.

Haagen wasn't the only one working in the hit department: North Thurston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakes only managed five hits.

North Thurston now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Lakes, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

North Thurston has already played their next matchup, a 7-5 loss against Peninsula on the 27th. As for Lakes, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-2 defeat against River Ridge on the 27th.
