Preview: Colonial Grenadiers vs. Atlantic Coast Stingrays

The Colonial Grenadiers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 7:00 p.m. on February 14th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

With a playoff game on the line, Colonial rose to the challenge on Friday. They came out on top against the Wolves by a score of 40-32. Despite the win, that was the fewest points Colonial has scored all year.

Carmen Richardson was her usual excellent self, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Jasmynne Gibson, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and five steals.

Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast posted their closest win since December 12, 2023 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 win over Tocoi Creek. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Atlantic Coast.

Atlantic Coast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Imani Henderson led the charge by scoring 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Johnson, who scored 14 points.

Colonial is on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-3 record this season. As for Atlantic Coast, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Wednesday's game is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Colonial have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 28.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Atlantic Coast struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
