Baseball Recap: Skyline Vikings vs. Ider Hornets
Skyline was the 12-4 winner over Ider when they last played one another back in April of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Skyline Vikings fell just short of the Ider Hornets by a score of 4-3 on Monday. Skyline has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Ider's part, Layne White made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (he also didn't allow any walks). White was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Hayden Jackson was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Skyline's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Ider, their record now sits at 15-13.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Skyline will take on Crossville at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ider, they will head out on the road to face off against Gaston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
