Soccer Game Preview: Lathrop vs. Central Valley

The Lathrop Spartans will take on the Central Valley Hawks at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Thursday, Lathrop earned a 3-1 win over Livingston. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Spartans' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Wolves are ranked 134th).

Lathrop hit Livingston with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Alan Hernandez, Andres Garcia, and Juan Morales.

Meanwhile, Central Valley and Johansen finished up their contest with a 0-0 draw on Thursday.

Lathrop is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 11 goals over those four games. Central Valley's draw makes their record 8-5-6 this season.

Lathrop might still be hurting after the 5-2 loss they got from Central Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2021. Can Lathrop avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
