Recap: Highline Pirates vs. Sammamish RedHawks
If the Highline Pirates were feeling good off their 81-21 takedown of the Tyee Titans last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Highline was just a bucket shy of victory on Friday and fell 62-61 to Sammamish. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Highline in their matchups with Sammamish: they've now lost six in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Highline lost, one person who can't be blamed is Marquawn Mccraney. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Corey Crosby was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Sammamish was led to victory by Anthony Boddie and Barry Morrissette. Boddie scored 18 points, while Morrissette scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrissette has scored all season.
Highline has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Sammamish, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highline will take on Renton at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Sammamish, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Hazen at 4:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hazen will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 216th, while Sammamish is ranked 91st).
