Basketball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Wayne Preparatory Academy

Wayne Preparatory Academy hadn't done well against New Life Christian Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Wayne Preparatory Academy Generals snuck past the New Life Christian Academy Monarchs with a 56-51 win. Winning may never get old, but the Generals sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Wayne Preparatory Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gaven Proctor, who posted 16 points. The game was Proctor's 13th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabrion Armstrong, who went 7-for-11 on his way to 16 points along with five boards and three blocks.

Several Monarchs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kyle Baldwin, who went 7-for-14 en route to 18 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Baldwin a new career-high in three-point shooting accuracy (75%). Jaylen Mason was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and 12 boards.

Wayne Preparatory Academy's record now sits at 20-9. As for New Life Christian Academy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 14-17.
