Baseball Recap: Danville Extends Road Winning Streak to Five

Danville won against Mifflinburg last Monday with 14 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Danville put the hurt on the Shamokin Area Indians with a sharp 14-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Ironmen in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won seven in a row.

Wyatt Shultz was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shultz was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Kaleb Stetler looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Garrett Hoffman, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Carter Raup, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Danville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shamokin Area only posted an OBP of .308.

Danville pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 9.6 runs this season. As for Shamokin Area, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Danville will take on Selinsgrove at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Shamokin Area, they will challenge Bloomsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
