Basketball Recap: Crosspoint Christian comes up short despite James Murray's strong performance

Basketball Recap: Crosspoint Christian vs. Liberty Christian Academy Eagles

Crosspoint Christian struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Crosspoint Christian had to suffer through a rough 78-50 loss at the hands of the Eagles. Crosspoint Christian was down 64-39 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

When it comes to explaining why Crosspoint Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is James Murray. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Murray is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Stroup, who scored 17 points.

Leading Liberty Christian Academy to victory were Jack Duvel and Tommy Meyer. Duvel scored 17 points along with eight assists and five rebounds, while Meyer scored 23 points along with five rebounds and two steals. It was the first time this season that Duvel posted eight or more assists. Levi Coovert was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Crosspoint Christian dropped their record down to 8-8 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Liberty Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Crosspoint Christian will take on the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Providence Classical Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Friday. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Westwood Baptist Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 61.9 points per game this season.
