Volleyball Recap: Axtell Wildcats vs. Pleasanton Bulldogs
Axtell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Pleasanton Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-1 last Thursday.
Emily Danburg paced Axtell's offense, picking up 13 kills. Danburg got some help from Madison Wells and her 21 assists. Danburg also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ashlynn Nelson, each putting up two.
Axtell's defeat dropped their record down to 12-14. As for Pleasanton, they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.
Axtell has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Exeter-Milligan/Friend on the 21st. As for Pleasanton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Sumner-Eddyville-Miller on the 20th.
