Baseball Recap: Oneida Takes a Loss

Oneida had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 8-12 to make it four. They lost 13-5 to the Eagleton College & Career Academy Royals. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-4 on Monday.

Ben Sexton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-9-1. The result was nothing new for the Royals, who have now won eight matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Eagleton College & Career Academy's side, Jayce Simon and Jack Kidd made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Simon pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Meanwhile, Kidd didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Eagleton College & Career Academy is undefeated when Simon allows two or fewer hits, but 8-9-1 otherwise. At bat, Simon went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Kidd got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI. That's the most RBI Kidd has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Willard King, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Lane Cope, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Oneida has already played their next game, a 7-0 defeat against Newton Local on the 17th. As for Eagleton College & Career Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-2 loss against Heritage on the 16th.
