Basketball Recap: Sartell-St. Stephen Comes Up Short

Sartell-St. Stephen lost against Alexandria back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres were beaten by the Alexandria Cardinals 80-42. The game marked the Sabres' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Alexandria got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Thompson out in front who went 6-for-13 to rack up 18 points. The matchup was Thompson's eighth in a row with at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Talan Witt, who went 5-for-11 en route to 15 points.

Sartell-St. Stephen's loss dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Alexandria, the victory was the 16th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sartell-St. Stephen won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Moorhead at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Alexandria, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Bemidji at 7:15 p.m.
