Softball Game Preview: Peotone Blue Devils vs. Reed-Custer Comets

For the second straight game, Peotone will face off against Reed-Custer. The Blue Devils will head out to face off against the Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games Peotone has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Monday, Peotone didn't have quite enough to beat Reed-Custer and fell 2-1.

Sophie Klawitter put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 19 batters over 11 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and one run.

Reed-Custer is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Peotone, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season.
