Baseball Game Preview: Perry Yellowjackets vs. Avon Braves

Perry is 1-8 against Avon since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Yellowjackets will host the Braves at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Le Roy hit Perry with a six-run sixth inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Yellowjackets lost 15-7 to the Oatkan Knights.

Perry saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Walker Briggs, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Another was Devon Wells, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

Avon couldn't beat Keshequa on Wednesday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Braves came up short against the Indians, falling 11-5. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Perry skirted past Avon 8-6 in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Will the Yellowjackets repeat their success, or do the Braves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
