Recap: Laughlin Cougars vs. Founders Classical Academy Centurions
The Laughlin Cougars can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 38-7 win over Founders Classical Academy. That 38-7 margin sets a new team best for Laughlin this season.
Laughlin found their leader in underclassman Valeria Qunitero, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 steals. Qunitero also pulled down eight rebounds for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Daishanae Jackson, who scored six points along with eight steals.
Laughlin's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6. As for Founders Classical Academy, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Laughlin will take on Lincoln County at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Nevada (Lincoln County is ranked 61st, while Laughlin is ranked 86th). As for Founders Classical Academy, they will be playing at home against White Pine at 5:30 p.m. on January 12th.
