Football Recap: Matthew Pinto and Xavier Torres Pace El Dorado Defense

If Bel Air wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played El Dorado, they should've done a better job of containing Ryan Estrada. The Aztecs breezed past the Highlanders to the tune of 70-28 on Friday thanks in part to Estrada, who rushed for 343 yards and five scores on only nine carries, and also picked up 64 receiving yards and one touchdown. His longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards.

El Dorado didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Matthew Pinto and Xavier Torres. Pinto also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 14. El Dorado got some further help from Andrew Estrada: he made 22 total tackles and defended one pass.

Bel Air's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marquette Beard, who picked up 117 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 37 yards and one touchdown. Angel Dominguez helped out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards and a rushing touchdown.

El Dorado's record now sits at 4-1. As for Bel Air, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 1-3-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. El Dorado will challenge Americas at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,083 yards in their previous games. As for Bel Air, they will face off against Parkland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Highlanders are facing the Matadors at the right time seeing as the Matadors are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
