Baseball Recap: Calvary Chapel Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus City of Life Christian Academy

It's playoff time, and Calvary Chapel Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors on Monday as they made off with a 9-3 win. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won three in a row.

Armando Martinez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He is becoming a predictor of Calvary Chapel Academy's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 2-1 (and 3-16 when he doesn't). Martinez was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Ski Bryant looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

Back at the plate, Conner Wolfe was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. He has become a key player for Calvary Chapel Academy: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-16 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Gerace, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Calvary Chapel Academy's win bumped their record up to 5-17. As for City of Life Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Calvary Chapel Academy will head out to square off against Master's Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. City of Life Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
