Basketball Recap: Union County Triumphs

Branford came into Saturday's matchup looking for another win against Union County, but Heaven Scott wouldn't allow it. The Union County Fightin' Tigers narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Branford Buccaneers 47-45 thanks in part to Scott, who went 8 of 10 on her way to 19 points and six steals. The game was her third in a row with at least ten points.

Despite the loss, Branford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Myranda Watson dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season.

Union County's record now sits at 4-12. As for Branford, they moved to 8-7 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Union County will host Keystone Heights at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Branford, they will challenge Countryside Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
