Basketball Game Preview: Nederland Bulldogs vs. Port Arthur Memorial Titans

The Nederland Bulldogs are taking a road trip to square off against the Port Arthur Memorial Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Nederland took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They greeted the New Year with with a 51-36 win over Sterling. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Rangers are ranked 386th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Port Arthur Memorial posted their closest victory since November 19, 2024 on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 55-53 win over Port Neches-Groves.

Port Arthur Memorial has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.7 points per game. As for Nederland, their victory bumped their record up to 17-6.

Nederland ended up a good deal behind Port Arthur Memorial in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, losing 51-32. Can Nederland avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
