The Meade County Green Waves will head out on the road to take on the Breckinridge County Fighting Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Meade County came out on top against North Hardin on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run first inning. The Green Waves took their game against the Trojans 6-3. The Green Waves haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Josiah Pierce made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.
In other batting news, Aidan Bratcher was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Hail, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Meade County lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Breckinridge County came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 5-1.
Connor Willis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Breckinridge County got a big performance out of Adam Howell, who earned two runs and three stolen bases. Another player making a difference was Leland Board, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meade County's record now sits at 16-7. As for Breckinridge County, their record is now 13-7.
Everything went Meade County's way against Breckinridge County when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Meade County made off with a 12-0 win.
