Baseball Game Preview: Escalon Cougars vs. Orestimba Warriors

For the second straight game, Escalon will face off against Orestimba. The Cougars are taking a road trip to square off against the Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Escalon will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

On Wednesday, Escalon made easy work of Orestimba and carried off an 11-1 win.

Josh Fiori made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Escalon is 6-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Fiori was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brody Abbott, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Logan Huebner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Escalon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

Orestimba is on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-22. As for Escalon, their record now sits at 12-9.
