Volleyball Game Preview: Taft Eagles vs. Saint Viator Lions

The Taft Eagles will be taking part in a tournament against the Saint Viator Lions at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. Taft will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

While Taft didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-24), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Payton College Prep on Thursday.

Taft not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Payton College Prep between 18 and 20 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Saint Viator came up short against Maine West on Thursday and fell 2-0.

Saint Viator couldn't get the win, but they sure gave Maine West a tough time in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 25-21.

Taft's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Saint Viator, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Taft couldn't quite get it done against Saint Viator when the teams last played back in March of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
