Basketball Game Preview: Victory Baptist Academy Saints vs. Heritage Christian Patriots

After both having extra time off, the Victory Baptist Academy Saints and the Heritage Christian Patriots will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Victory Baptist Academy has six straight victories, Heritage Christian has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

While Victory Baptist Academy didn't have the best season last year (they finished 13-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They secured a 27-22 W over Heritage Christian last Saturday. The 27-point effort marked the Saints' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Jada O'Neal continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, putting up eight points in addition to six assists and six steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emma Huffman, who posted six points in addition to nine boards and five steals.

Victory Baptist Academy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.0 points per game. As for Heritage Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
