Marquette Catholic and Jersey are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Explorers will head out on the road to square off against the Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Marquette Catholic will be strutting in after a victory while Jersey will be coming in after a loss.

Marquette Catholic will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Freeburg, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. The Explorers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Midgets a 3-0 shutout on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Explorers.

Joe Stephan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Will Fahnestock, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one run.

Mascoutah hit Jersey with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers lost 12-1 to the Indians. The Panthers haven't had much luck with the Indians recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Jersey's defeat dropped their record down to 13-15. As for Marquette Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 16-13.

Marquette Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Jersey in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Explorers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
