Basketball Recap: Wildwood Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

While Wildwood didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past the Trinity Catholic Celtics with a 48-43 victory on Thursday. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 197th, while the Celtics are ranked 417th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wildwood found their leader in freshman Demarius Knight, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashton Wilson, who posted eight points.

Wildwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. As for Trinity Catholic, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-7.

Wildwood and East Ridge will face off at 8:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Wildwood is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Trinity Catholic, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Umatilla at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
