Basketball Recap: Person Comes Up Short

Person lost against Eastern Alamance back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Person Rockets took a blow against the Eastern Alamance Eagles, falling 71-37. The Rockets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Person saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ava Mandizha went 6 for 8 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mandizha has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Paige Jay, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Person smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in nine consecutive matchups.

Person's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-8. As for Eastern Alamance, the victory made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 7-8.

Person will face off against Western Alamance at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Eastern Alamance, they will head out to challenge Southern Alamance at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastern Alamance has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
