Baseball Recap: Hibbing Makes It Four in a Row at Home

Hibbing is still undefeated this season after their contest against Cherry on Monday, but Cherry came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Bluejackets came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Tigers. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Bluejackets have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Tate Swanson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits.

On the hitting side, Hibbing saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Davey, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. That double was Davey's first of the season.

Hibbing's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Cherry, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-2.

Coming up, Hibbing will venture away from home to take on Duluth East at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cherry, they will host Rock Ridge co-op [Eveleth-Gilbert/Virginia] at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Tigers 3.5, the Wolverines 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
