Basketball Recap: Rank Disadvantage No Problem for Niles

Niles won the last time they faced Paw Paw and things went their way on Thursday too. The Niles Vikings snuck past the Paw Paw Red Wolves with a 65-61 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Vikings' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 188th, while the Red Wolves are ranked 18th).

Niles has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Paw Paw, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-1.

Niles will take on Mishawaka Marian in a holiday battle at at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Paw Paw, they will be playing at home against Culver Academies at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
