Baseball Recap: Hazard Takes a Loss

Hazard has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.26 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They lost 15-5 to the South Warren Spartans. The Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Evan Akemon made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Tucker Napier was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Hazard's loss dropped their record down to 19-4. As for South Warren, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-6.

Hazard and South Warren should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Bulldogs / Lady Bulldogs (ranked 38th) will meet Shelby Valley (ranked 196th) at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, South Warren will square off against Corbin at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday with a big rank advantage (10 vs. 70).
