Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Chase Thompson and Deacon Arends Lead Marshall to Victory

It was a Battle of the Birds when Marshall faced off against Fayette on Thursday. The Marshall Owls came out on top against the Fayette Falcons by a score of 66-57.

Leading Marshall to victory were Deacon Arends and Chase Thompson. Arends went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Thompson went 7 for 12 en route to 21 points. Thompson has been hot recently, having posted 18 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angel Aguirre, who went 6 for 14 en route to 15 points.

Marshall's victory bumped their record up to 8-9. As for Fayette, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-14.

Marshall didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 67-64 loss against Fulton on the 1st. Fayette has also already played their next contest (against Linn), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
