Football Recap: Mingo Central Starts off Right with Win over Tug Valley + How To Watch

Mingo Central had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They snuck past the Tug Valley Panthers with a 35-30 victory on Thursday. For the Miners, this counts as revenge for the 14-6 win the Panthers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2024.

Leading Mingo Central to victory were Bam Coleman and Jamere Knuckles. Coleman rushed for 184 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per carry, while Knuckles rushed for 123 yards and three scores. Those 184 rushing yards gave Coleman a new career-high.

Mingo Central and Tug Valley will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Miners will challenge rival Westside at 7:30 p.m. on September 5. Meanwhile, Tug Valley is set to take on their familiar foe Sherman at 7:30 p.m. on September 5.
