Baseball Recap: Folsom Victorious

Folsom's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Whitney Wildcats by a score of 6-3. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 9-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

Alex Blount made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Folsom is 12-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-7 otherwise. Blount was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Caden Heitmeyer tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Blake Sargent was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Manny Orange, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI.

Folsom kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Folsom has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. As for Whitney, they dropped their record down to 8-15 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Folsom will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
