Baseball Recap: Rubidoux Takes a Loss

Rubidoux had lost eight straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-20 to make it nine. They fell 3-0 to the La Sierra Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 back in April.

As for La Sierra, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-11. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For La Sierra's part, Rubidoux's batters probably weren't too happy with Matthew Ortiz, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (he gave up two walks). Ortiz also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Eagles are 4-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Edgar Castaneda was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: La Sierra beat Rubidoux by a score of 9-0 on Wednesday.
