Basketball Game Preview: Milford Eagles vs. Walnut Hills Eagles

We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Milford comes in on four and Walnut Hills on five.

If Walnut Hills heads into halftime all tied up, they better play a good second half: that's when Milford took over last week. Milford took down Little Miami 68-50 on Thursday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 27th, while the Panthers are ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Milford found their leader in sophomore Gabby Chadwell, who went 7-for-10 en route to 23 points in addition to seven assists and five rebounds. Chadwell has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 21 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Violet Shuluga, who went 5-for-11 on her way to 11 points along with six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Walnut Hills beat Seton 42-37 on Monday.

Walnut Hills pushed their record up to 17-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.7 points over those games. As for Milford, their win bumped their record up to 18-4.

Milford didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Walnut Hills when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 49-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Milford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
